“Mosaic of True Colours” grew out of a fascination with how small changes in colour can completely transform the way a fabric is perceived. All three scarves were woven on the same warp, yet each explores a different arrangement of weft colours. I wanted to see how the same hues would appear, disappear, and influence one another when combined in different ways. Each scarf develops the same idea in a slightly different direction. Depending on the colours used, some areas of the pattern become more prominent while others recede into the background. The changes are often subtle, yet they can completely alter the character of the cloth and the way its structure is experienced. The relief-like quality of the Deflected Double Weave structure enhances this effect. Up close, individual shapes and details stand out; from a distance, they come together as a colourful mosaic—the inspiration behind the series’ name.
